Citizen science in the marine environment

Periodically, and with the support of various organizations and the administration, we organize citizen science workshops to learn more about the biodiversity of sa Dragonera. These scientific activities aim to make research available to non-professionals or amateurs, while promoting knowledge of Andratx's coastal waters. For the workshops we have the support of Observadores del Mar.

Meet the environment: kayak tours

Both to raise awareness of the biodiversity of the waters of Sa Dragonera and to promote good practices, the project organizes guided kayak excursions. After a theoretical approach to learn about marine ecology, the participants form teams to reach the island of sa Dragonera by kayak, where they usually do a short scientific snorkel. For these activities we have the support of various entities, such as Projecte Home or the Club Nàutic d'Andratx, among others. Keida Kayak collaborates ceding the kayaks.

Cultural heritage itineraries

The coast of Andratx is rich in archaeological, historical, artistic and intangible heritage, tangible and intangible assets that complement the extraordinary natural wealth of this region. This is why, with the collaboration of the Amics de Sant Elm association and the Associació de Comerciants, we organize walks that cover different parts of the town to learn about the stories and art hidden there.

MARE Dragonera-FotoColab

MARE and Sa Dragonera Blava collaborate every year in the Audiovisual Contest for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea. Through the objective of the participants in the contest, we create a meeting point for the best photographs of the underwater and coastal world of Sa Dragonera, which will be exhibited to the public through a collaborative photocall to raise awareness of the ecological, social and economic importance of the waters of Sa Dragonera and the coastal area of Andratx. The sea starts here

Students of the Ramon Llull and Es Vinyet schools were the protagonists of the "The sea begins here" campaign: a campaign that collected messages such as "The sea drives the world" and drawings of marine fauna in the sewers of Andratx, in order to raise awareness among the population about the connection between the street and the sea. It was one of the first initiatives of the Sa Dragonera Blava project, through an action that contributed to strengthening the ties between the community and the Marine Reserve.
